Maurice E. Goodwin, SLP

Speech-Language Pathologist · Voice Teacher · Educator

Hi, I’m Maurice Goodwin—a licensed speech-language pathologist, voice teacher, and educator based in Houston, TX. I specialize in working with the singing voice and voice disorders, blending my background in vocal performance with years of clinical experience supporting professional voice users.

I grew up with music in my bones. I come from a family of singers, my mother and sisters being some of the best. From singing in church and school choirs, to the stages of Houston Grand Opera and Irving Plaza in New York City, I got to experience and enjoy the life of a professional touring singer.

My journey as a speech-language pathologist started with a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance from Shenandoah University and later earned my Master’s in Speech-Language Pathology from the University of Pittsburgh, driven by a desire to bridge the gap between artistry and science.

My professional career has centered on working with singers and professional voice users across every corner of the arts and performance world. From the Metropolitan Opera to the West End, and from regional theaters to concert stages across the United States, I’ve had the privilege of helping artists find their strongest, most authentic voices—and create the work they’re meant to share.

Whether you’re seeking voice therapy, singing coaching, or support navigating your vocal health, I’d love to hear from you.

Fellowship & Training

I completed my clinical fellowship at the University of Wisconsin Voice and Swallow Clinics, where I had the privilege of working with singers, actors, teachers, and other professional voice users navigating vocal challenges. I was fortunate to continue that work in the Texas Medical Center and beyond, providing care for clients with complex voice needs in both medical and private practice settings.

Alongside my clinical work, I serve as adjunct faculty in the Vocology Certificate Program at Lamar University and co-lead VoiceProEd, an education platform for voice clinicians. Whether I’m in the therapy room, classroom, or studio, my focus is always on empowering people to use their voices freely, fully, and sustainably.
